Creativity is a Habit

People think creativity belongs to artists.

But really, creativity = creating the life and experiences you want to have

And it’s a habit. The more you practice, the easier it gets.

Most people don’t go to thrift stores looking for art to hang in their living rooms. I do it all the time. I have this amazing paint-by-number of a deer and I have no idea who painted it. It’s so colorful and imperfect, it makes me smile every time I see it.

You can move through life doing what everyone else is doing or what is easiest. Or you can choose creativity. Look at things differently.

You can buy the exact furnishings and decor to recreate the furniture showroom display at home, or you can make a room that feels like you. You can choose to go to Applebee’s on date night, or you can find somewhere new to explore in your city.

Choosing a creative life adds texture and color to the everyday. It makes memories.

You don’t have to be an artist to live this way. Any time you choose to do something your own way, you’re being creative. Putting your own touches on something counts.

Being creative makes you happier. Every moment of the day doesn’t have to be different and exciting, but it should be lived in the way you decide.

If creativity is a habit, that means you can practice creating the life you want with every small decision you make. The more you are conscious of those choices, the better you can shape your life.

Creativity is the color of my hair, my i-spy decorating style, and knitting exactly the sweater I want.

My creativity makes me who I am.

Every decision is another chance to create the life you want.
