This String of Pearls plant was super easy to crochet. I wanted it to look like an old school Barbie accessory- when everything for Barbie was molded out of pink plastic.

First, I picked out the perfect pink yarn and crocheted all the strings. Then I made a base a little bigger than the opening of my planter.

Here is a test run. The brown base is for a more realistic String of Pearls I’m going to crochet in green. This is what the pot looked like before I painted it pink.

There is paper stuffed inside the planter and the base crochet circle is just sitting on top with the edges tucked in. The loose ends of the strings are tied together under the base. When I make something for myself, I’m not as picky about the parts that don’t show.

I wish I had been able to make the planter match the yarn exactly, but I still love it. In fact, I love it so much I put it right next to Indy’s and Vader’s ashes. My little knitting partners.
